Notice is given that applications have been made to the North Carolina Commissioner of Banks (‘NCCOB”) for consent for First Bancorp, 205 SE Broad Street, Southern Pines, NC 28387, to acquire by merger First Carolina Bancshares Corporation, 185 West Evans Street, Florence, SC 29501 and for First Bank, 205 SE Broad Street, Southern Pines, NC 28387, the commercial bank subsidiary of First Bancorp, to acquire by merger Carolina Bank & Trust, the commercial bank subsidiary of First Carolina Bancshares Corporation, 112 Main Street, Lamar, SC 29069.  The principal offices of First Bancorp and First Bank as the resulting company and bank of the mergers will be in Southern Pines, N.C.  The applications are being made pursuant to § 53C-7-202 and § 53C-10-202 of the North Carolina General Statutes.  Any interested person may submit written comments to the NCCOB, 4309 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-4309. The comment period on this application will end 15 days from the date of publication.  The NCCOB will consider comments received within the comment period.
